About Harry at German Built Construction
I have always had a passion for woodworking since I was a young kid, however in Germany I was accepted for an apprenticeship to be an Industrial Mechanic. From this line of work I gained knowledge in working with machinery with a key eye for detail. I came to Australia in 2007 as a backpacker and fell in love with the country and later an Aussie woman.
So Australia is now my home and I couldn’t be happier! In 2011 an opportunity arose to work for a Builder in Surrey Hills Melbourne. Since then I have been able to work for various builders, completing my Apprenticeship in Carpentry, Certificate IV in Building and Construction and in 2018 I attained my Builders License which has allowed me to start up my own business… German Built Construction which services wonderful Adelaide and the surrounding areas.
Why the name “German Built Construction”? I love Australia, its culture and work ethic, yet I cannot deny that I have been shaped by my childhood and young adult life in Germany. I love all things quality and have a perfectionist eye. I am not satisfied until the job meets my high standard and this is true to most things German made. My aim for German Built Constructions is to do a job well done for you my customer, so that we both part ways with a smile, happy to do business together in the future.

Structural Work
Involves building the wall studding, roof struts, door frames, floor joists, stairs etc. Also known as ‘first fix” this work is all the structural work done before the plastering of a property.

Your outdoor needs are covered with our creative and quality solutions to build new outdoor decks, pergola’s or cubby houses.
Installations
Installation of new windows, doors, kitchens or cupboards or changing your existing window or door area to custom built and to fit your needs.
Finishing Work
Involves fixing architraves, window boards, floorboards and finishes, skirting, fitting internal doors, handrails etc. Also known as “second fix” this involves all the finishing touches after structural work has been completed.
Home Repairs
Involves replacing rotten wood, damaged gutters, broken fences, repairing old stair etc. Through looking and diagnosing the repair work that is needed and finding the best solution to make it as good as new again.
Storage solutions
We fit out those tricky areas in your home to create functional spaces, whether it be the attic or roof area, or underneath the stairs, or a wall that just needs better shelving and storage, we know how to create for your space.
Custom Built Carpentry
Involves custom built furniture or a specific window or door made up for that tough to fit frame or area.

Monday- Friday 7am-5pm, Saturday work available on request.
What payment types do you accept?
GBC accepts cash, credit card, electronic funds transfer, paypal and can take payment on site with eftpos machine.
How many years of experience do you have?
With a trained eye for detail as an Industrial Mechanic I began my Carpentry career in 2011, having worked with many builders across Melbourne and Adelaide my skill set is an all rounder.
What kind of jobs would you prefer to focus on?
I have a South Australian Builders Licence predominantly focusing on renovations, installations, house maintenance and repair within residential and commercial settings.

German Built Construction is a carpentry and building business which undertakes first fix, second fix, alterations, installations, home repairs, home maintenance and custom built carpentry. Based from Happy Valley, the business operates throughout the Onkaparinga Region of Adelaide and beyond.

How will I know how much the job will cost?
The cost process is calculated on a case by case basis in communication with the client. Some questions to keep in mind are; How clear is the project? Are there changes of mind throughout the job? What does the client want? An example for a standard job with a clear timeframe and material costs would normally warrants a fixed quote is calculated. If there are unknowns depending on the complexity of the job, an estimate can be given with clear communication throughout the project. Sometimes an hourly rate is arranged with an estimate for time given. Overall, German Built Construction seeks a fair price for all, the customer and the worker. This outcome is always achieved through constant clear communication.
